Oil Change

Engine oil is vital for your vehicle, as it diminishes friction, minimizes wear, lubricates metal parts, cools engines, and creates a seal between pistons, rings, and cylinder walls. Regular oil changes are indispensable to prevent the accumulation of carbon and varnish, which can be harmful to the engine. To enhance your engine’s efficiency, optimize fuel economy, reduce emissions, and extend your car’s lifespan, follow the recommended oil change schedule provided by the vehicle manufacturer.

An NCA oil change would take around 60 minutes. The oil change service includes the oil and new filter, as well as our complimentary NCA General Inspection service. Customers should allow another 15 minutes for tire rotation if the NCA General Inspection deems it necessary. A DIY oil change can take over an hour, depending on your skills.

• Traditional motor oil is produced by blending crude oil with a range of additives.

• Synthetic motor oil is created from artificial components combined with various additives. Its superior engine protection results from the purity and consistent molecular structure of these man-made oils. We offer cost-effective synthetic blend oils if you prefer them.

• Motor oil designed for high mileage vehicles incorporates anti-wear elements to extend the longevity of engines with a mileage of 120,000 kilometers or above. This type of oil is offered in traditional, synthetic blend, and full synthetic formulations.

Your mechanic can help you decide on the ideal motor oil for your vehicle and driving style. NCA would never use oil that fails to meet your car manual’s recommendations.
For vehicles manufactured in the last decade, carmakers generally recommend changing oil every 8,000 to 12,000 kilometers. Some models have even longer intervals. However, older vehicles and specific engine types may still require oil changes every 4,500 kilometers, especially if using traditional oil.

Check your manual to determine the appropriate interval for your vehicle. Pay attention to the oil change reminder, which may consider your driving patterns. If you don't reach the recommended mileage each year, follow the timed oil change interval specified in your manual.

Review your car manual to determine if driving in "severe" conditions requires more frequent oil changes. The definition of severe conditions might be unexpected, referring to short trips in stop-and-go traffic or driving in what we typically consider as ordinary hot summers and very cold winters. If your driving habits align with these conditions, your vehicle may need more frequent oil changes.

Adhering to your routine maintenance plan is advisable. That said, here are indications your vehicle may need an oil and filter replacement:

  • In newer vehicles, a dashboard reminder will let you know that your vehicle needs an oil and filter replacement.

  • Oil that appears dark on the dipstick is indicative of impurities. While fresh engine oil is transparent and has a light brown or amber color, contaminated oil is characterized by a dark brown or black hue, making it too opaque to see through.

  • Overheating can result from inadequate lubrication, causing your engine to operate under increased strain.

  • Audible grinding or tapping sounds could indicate "metal on metal" contact, signaling that your engine lacks sufficient oil to provide lubrication to metal parts.
Do not disregard oil leakages! Promptly address any fluid leak and don’t postpone it until your next scheduled oil change. While many oil leaks can be easily resolved by replacing a filter or tightening a bolt, allowing an unchecked oil leak to persist can result in serious engine failure and pose fire risks. Do you detect either of these warning signs?

• Fluid below your vehicle or some engine parts.
• A bluish smoke or burnt odor emitting from your exhaust.

Come in for an NCA oil and fluid check immediately if you notice these signs.
